How to choose a mylar bag size.
A mylar bag is sized by its outside width and height, plus its gusset if it has one. Measure your product, add room to fill and seal it, and choose a flat pouch for thin products or a gusseted pouch for anything with depth.

Order custom mylar bags online: any size from 500 bags, $535.34 delivered for 500 4″ × 6″ stand-up pouches, your art placed on your dieline and an instant 3D proof.
See my priceStep 1: measure your product
Measure the width, height and depth of what goes in the bag, or of the stack of items. Flat products like a few cards, a sachet or a single serving fit a flat pouch. Anything with depth, like coffee, snacks or a jar, needs a stand-up or flat-bottom pouch whose gusset opens to hold that depth.
No ruler handy? The order page has a measuring tool: you hold a U.S. quarter against your screen to calibrate it, then measure your product on screen and it suggests a bag.
Step 2: leave room to fill and seal
Sizes are the outside of the finished bag, seals included. The top of a pouch is taken up by the zipper and the heat seal, so leave room above your fill line, and leave a little width so the bag closes flat without stretching around the product.
Step 3: pick a style
| Style | Sized by | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Flat pouch (3-side seal) | Width × height | Samples, single servings, flat products |
| Lay-flat zipper pouch | Width × height | Flat products opened more than once |
| Stand-up pouch | Width × height × bottom gusset | Retail shelves, coffee, snacks, supplements |
| Flat-bottom pouch | Width × height × side gusset | Heavy fills and the most shelf presence |

Size limits online
On the order page you can enter any size from 2″ to 18.12″ wide and up to 26″ tall, to the 1/100 inch, with height between 0.5 and 3.2 times the width. For another size, email orders@twopackaging.com.
Why a snug size costs less
Pouch price follows the printed area of the bag, so a bag that fits your product closely uses less film than one with empty space. A 4″ × 6″ stand-up pouch is $0.784 each at 1,000; a 5.7″ × 9.8″ one is $0.927.
Frequently asked questions
How do I measure for a mylar bag?
Measure your product's width, height and depth. Use a flat pouch if it has almost no depth, and a stand-up or flat-bottom pouch with a gusset at least as deep as the product if it does. Leave room above the fill for the zipper and the top seal.
Are mylar bag sizes inside or outside measurements?
Mylar bag sizes are the outside of the finished bag, including the seals. The usable space inside is smaller, so leave room around your product.
Can I order a custom size?
Yes. Enter any width and height (and gusset for stand-up and flat-bottom pouches) on the order page and it prices the bag and draws its dieline for that exact size.
